KBB youths join Khatam al-Quran




A TOTAL of 67 Youth Exploration Camp or Kembara Bakti Belia (KBB) participants took part in a Khatam al-Quran ceremony yesterday as part of the effort to produce cultured, dedicated and devout youths.

Head of KKB Secretariat Hj Mustazan Maidin said that the participants have completed the whole 30 Quranic juzuk on Tuesday.

"This activity has been included as part of our programme because in addition of creating a platform for them to interact with local residents, we wanted to encourage them to read the Quran more," said the ketua urusetia.

The function, which took place at Kg Bebuloh Surau started off with Surah Al-Fatihah recitation led by Assistant Brunei-Muara District Officer Hj Haris Othman. The event then continue with the youths reciting Surah Ad-Dhuhaa until Surah An-Nas.

The ceremony last night also saw cultural performances by the participants at Kg Bebuloh Multipurpose Hall. Divided into 8 groups, the youths entertained those present with a number of Nasyid, poetry and singing performances.

Hj Mustazan told The Brunei Times the camp though conducted for the first time will be made into annual activity in the future.

Organised by Brunei Youth Council or Majlis Belia Brunei (MBB), Islamic Da'wah Centre and Youth and Sports Department, participants include not only youths from the four districts but also youths from Malaysia — Labuan, Sabah, Negeri Sembilan and Limbang.

They will continue on with more religious activities today with the recital of Ratib Al-Attas soon after performing the Subuh prayers.
