FOLLOWING the success of organising the Armed Forces Skill at Arms Meet (Afsam) in June of 2008, where the Royal Brunei Land Force (RBLF) teams were then declared champions and swiped home every major trophy that needed to be won and hosting another renowned international arms tournament, The Brunei International Skill At Arms Meet (BISAM) which was held in the capital last month, the Ministry of Defence once again to a giant leap by hosting another Skill At Arms Meet for the military cadets in the sultanate.
Some 21 skilled military cadets platoons from colleges and secondary schools from all over the country too part in the competition which began on 21 of November and held at the Berakas Camp Shooting Range.
The event was conducted annually by the Royal Brunei Armed Forces Military Cadet which is aimed at testing the participants' shooting precision as well as practical applications of their weapons studies. A total of five events were competed.
The event is also organised in the hope of fostering closer relations among the participating members and establishing a platform for young cadets in their military studies. The need for mutual convergence with regards to defence is indeed crucial for the Asean region to combat regional uncertainties.
It is aimed at providing ample growth and development opportunities in seeking new talents and to promote professional level marksmanship among the cadets. This naturally instill discipline in the younger generation.
Present to open the competition was officiated by Special Duties Officer of the Commander of RBAFcolonel (U) Pg Hj Kamal Bashah Pg Hj Ahmad.The opening ceremony began with an introduction of the guest of honour to the respective heads of participating platoons and a total of five events were competed and was opened to students and supervising teachers.
