RESIDENTS of Kg Putat can expect further development in the near future, pledged the newly-elected village head. Jumat Akim said that the development and facilities which Kg Putat have enjoyed were almost at the same level as other villages in the country.
Speaking at a ceremony for his appointmentyesterday, the 57-year-old village head said that the construction of the village new mosque is expected to be completed by the end of the year, in addition to the roads, water, electricity, telephone and schools that were already available.
"With the construction of the mosque it is hope that it will be able to accommodate more jemaah (worshippers) as the population is increasing every year," he said.
In the areas of hygiene, he said work on finding a suitable location for rubbish disposal has been proposed and approved by the Brunei-Muara District Office and has been forwarded to the respective agencies.
He said that officers from the Department of Environment, Park and Recreation had conducted a series of visits to the proposed disposal site. "The issue of waste disposal is important that should implemented with the utmost care, as it is an issue that has been taken seriously by the government over at the Environment and Recreation Department's Health Unit," he said.
The village leader also urged villagers to remain patient and maintain the cleanliness in the village while work on the disposal location is being carried out.
"In our endeavour to develop the village, we should always take the opportunity available and make extra efforts ," he said.
He called on the villagers to maintain unity and cooperation as well as assisting one another in any activities that is being carried out in the village or the mukim. "Only through strong sense of unity can we develop the village, mukim and districts and Brunei."
"We will also work closely to rid illegal activities and help relevant government agencies in enforcing the laws and regulations."
Kg Putat, located in Mukim Lumapas, has a population of 670 with majority of them Malays. (SHS1)
