Participants get tourism briefing



BIMP-EAGA Youth Exchange Programme participants were introduced with Kenali Negara Kitani (Get to know your country) campaign in a tourism briefing conducted by Tourism Development Department, Ministry of Industry and Primary Resources at Youth Centre yesterday.

In the briefing which were facilitated by Tourism Officer Affandi Hj Alias and Project Manager Noriada Emelda Abdullah the participants were presented a number of interesting places and activities offered in Brunei Darussalam. Among the attractions were Taman Negara Ulu Temburong, jungle trekking and a Proboscis monkey tour among others.

The participants were also briefed on the the department's background, objective and target market to further enhance their understanding on Brunei tourism industry.

The activity yesterday was part of the highlights during the youths' eight-day stay in Brunei Darussalam. The programme is an extension of the Sixth Bimp-Eaga Friendly Games 2008, that will take place from Nov. 28 through Nov. 30.

According to the working committee secretary Hjh Noor Masliana Hj Sulaiman, Brunei is the first country to host such program. "Seeing that the networking is crucial for Bimp-Eaga success, a lot of activities have been lined up to facilitate exchange of ideas, cooperation and coordination among the youths."

Organised by the Youth and Sports Department under the Ministry of Culture Youth and Sports the event was officiated by the ministry's Acting Deputy Permanent Secretary Hj Mohammad Hj Abd Rahman in the opening ceremony at the same vicinity yesterday.
