Walkers Crisps recalled by MoH

THE Ministry of Health (MoH) has advised the public not to consume certain batches of Walkers Crisps following a recall on some of the products because they may contain pieces of yellow rubber.

The products affected are Walkers Crisps Cheese & Onions, Ready Salted, Salt & Vinegar and Variety packs with best before dates of January 17, 2009 GBL ***306 (*** indicates the different serial numbers).

This is following a report published by the stringent Food Standards Agency from United Kingdom on the recall made by the food company.

As a precautionary measure, the Ministry of Health conducted an investigation on shops to ensure that the product is not sold or imported into the country.

The ministry is reminding importers and shopkeepers to recall the said product (if any) from the market and hand it over to the Food Quality Control and Safety Unit, or any of the health offices in each district to be destroyed.

Consumers who own the contaminated product should return it to the shop where the items were purchased or the centre of Food Quality Control and Safety Unit, or any of the health offices in each district.

The public are also reminded that it is an offence under the Public Health (Food Act), and anyone selling food that is hazardous to health. The penalty is a five-year imprisonment and/or a fine.

For further information, the public can contact the Food Quality and Safety Control Section, Environmental Health Services at Jalan Delima Dua at 2331100/5/6/8/9/10 or visit the following website at www.moh.gov.bn.
