HM receives in audience four incoming, one outgoing envoys

HIS Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam yesterday consented to present credentials to newly-appointed local envoy and receive letters of appointment from four incoming foreign envoys at Istana Nurul Iman.

His Majesty first presented credential to Latif Tuah, Brunei Darussalam Permanent Representative to the United Nations in New York.

His Excellency Latif Tuah, 46, started his service at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1986. Prior to this appointment, His Excellency was the director of Asean at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade.

This followed with His Majesty receiving letters of appointments from four newly-appointed ambassadors from foreign nations.

The first to present his letter of appointment was His Excellency Thura Thet Oo Maung of the Union of Myanmar.

The 50-year-old envoy previously served in the Defence Services with the rank of Brigadier General.

Next was Louis Le Vert of the Republic of France.

His Excellency Louis Le Vert, 59, prior to his appointment was the Charge de Mission to the Ambassador in charge of Security and Conflict Prevention.

His Majesty then received the letter of appointment from the Ambassador of the United States of America, His Excellency William Edward Todd.

The envoy, aged 47, was the former Deputy Inspector General at the US Department of State.
